Mani - <Also as you noticed AMD pushed back some capital expenditure, it is possible that they intentionally delayed fab 30 for a quarter. They probably like to have a partner's (MOT) agreement finalized before ramping also.>

This scenario would bolster the "lack of need" for Copper at .18, wouldn't it?

I don't believe this is the reason anyway.

I believe their process development is behind schedule, or they are having operational issues. I strongly lean toward the former. There are indications MOT is having issues getting Cu to .18 design rules. This would spill over to F30, I would think.

Oh yeah ?

I suppose they bought 800 shovels for those 800 Dresden employees to "lean on" for about 3 months !

If AMD is delaying Dresden-30, they have some serious penalties to pay. AMD-S cannot transfer assets to AMD until AMD-S's debts are under control, i.e. AMD-S is useless to AMD for cash generation, and AMD dare not put any cash into Fab 30 that they might need back. I need to dig up those old agreements to see how badly AMD is stuck.
