How was the Coppermine Presentation received?

The performance numbers were interesting. The perception was that the performance gains were due almost entirely to improvements in memory performance (fast L2, improved buffering on the memory bus, etc.)

The talk itself was somewhat dull, because there really wasn't much in the way of new architectural features. All in all, Coppermine fared quite well compared to Merced, which became the hardware whipping boy of the conference. (Microsoft took a massive beating on the software side.)
