Goutama - <***** Please don't take it wrong; but this info from the CC, shedding some doubt in my mind on your analysis/info that you have been feeding us.> My main point when I make some of these statements Goutama is to highlight differences in business practices. I.e., what kind of bin split it takes for AMD to ship a part vs. Intel. I usually do this when I start hearing the "fastest processor in all the land" stuff, with little acknowledging that Intel may be building forward a typical high volume style launch themselves. I guess it's tough for me to sit back and be quiet when I see what's going on at intel as far as manufacturing, no change in their typical launch methods, and to see Intel bashing because they are not "shipping". I do know for a fact that Intel has minimum conditions that need to be met for bin split. The percentages are in double digits . I also have sources regarding AMD's distributions, and all I am saying is that if Intel had those distributions, they would not launch the part. I will try to qualify my statements along these lines with "because AMD feels they have to", when speaking about these sorts of things. Intel couldn't afford to have launch like the one evidenced in August. My point remains that if Intel were playing by the same rules with single didit bin split releases and low volume, and now the spec scores that are out, the "fastest uP in all the land" stuff would have been a whole nother argument. As for availability, it is getting better, and speed distribution may or may not "be terrific", but to cede a point, after the initial stealth launch, AMD appears to be slowly getting parts out the door. I do not think the 650 distribution was terrific. They took just until a couple of weeks ago to show up. I believe the 700 is a new stepping, and AMD very well may have made an improvement in bin split with this speculated stepping. Another possibility is a process rev.. Whatever, the 700 release event looks improved from the 650 release event. I don't dispute the 1M figure Sanders gives. They may be able to do it. Something slightly lower than that is what I really think they will do, but this is purely speculation on my part. PB
