Goutama and thread,

My read from CC.

First some clarifications:

ALL ATHLON wafer starts from end of october will be 0.18.
Yields per wafer in terms of GOOD die PER wafer are 2x 0.25.
0.25 production will be phased out by Q2 2000.
They are starting to put flash into Fab 25 - for 2q 2000 production revenues and also additional fujitsu fab locations - flash does seem like a godsend right now.
Dresden is being delayed by 1Q to 2H 2000 due to overcapacity at Fab 25 - currently only at 80% capacity.
ASP for Athlons was sub $300 and will be lower in Q4.
In fact they HELD off ATHLON wafer starts due to MB issues even in Q3.

Biggest negative for me was the excess capacity - in Q1 they will have capacity for 3-4M K7's just from Fab 25 - the key is what price must the sell the k7's to be competitive with coppermine.

Biggest positive for me was the excess capacity - in Q1/Q2 they can introduce the Athlon with integrated cache - soup up performance - move to a socket architecture.

I can see a break even Q4.

But the real payoff is probably a year away.

regards,

Kash
