Brad,

Has Intel or Rambus identified the bug? If so, how long is it going to
take to fix this baby? Need to know -- toute suite (right away).

You and a few million other people. No solution made public yet. Intel tends to use silence until they know the whole solution, all configs, simulated and real, down to a gnat's eyebrow. Why didn't they do this the first time around? Hard to say. Some they wins, some they loses (lately).

Tony

Re: Has Intel or Rambus identified the bug?

I have no idea. I have a theory, based upon the near simultaneous stock price jump and rambus production halt, that at least one solution has been arrived at and proposed to OEMs and memory companies.

So the news that a solution had been proposed caused some insiders, who didn't understand the details, to buy stock. Trouble may be, whatever the solution was, it was so expensive or impractical, that it convinced the memory manufacturers that rambus wasn't going to make it for a long time, if ever, and so they shut down their production lines.

Just a WAG :-)
