Speculation that BOJ Gov. Masaru Hayami will resign swirled in the market today after BOJ Deputy Gov. Yutaka Yamaguchi called off his planned trip to a financial conference hosted by the Bank of France from today to Saturday. The sudden cancellation raised speculation that Yamaguchi has to be in town ahead of the BOJ Monetary Policy board meeting next Wednesday for some reason, including the possibility that Hayami will quit, a trader at a Japanese securities firm said.

Les, so far, dowguru's scenario has been surprisingly accurate...btw, he predicted the '98 decline and subsequent rally to new highs one year before it happened...he was off by 200 Dow points or so w/regards to the lows.
