Yes, but SW development support are PART of the product. If Intel has a better SW development support, won't that mean that SW will tend to run better on Intel parts. Example: Intel's C/C++ compiler can produce SSE code - but it's not automatic... you have to specify SIMD data structures. I don't know of a development environment that can produce 3DNOW code from C++. After all, nobody runs SPEC at home/business. People run SW products produced by many different companies that must develop their products using the support environment provided. The same goes for game consoles, operating systems, and so on. Haim
