I have it pretty solidly that Windows 2000 will be announced at COMDEX but that retail shipments will not be until after the first of the year. So I expect any Windows2000 pop to be in 2000, not 4Q99.

OEMs like DELL will of course get it earlier than retail so that they can have tested and configured machines ready at the launch date. But in the past, the date at which OEMs could actually ship the product was tied closely to the retail availability date.
