Veeco Metrology Receives $1.5 Million In Orders For New Atomic Force Profiler For CMP Semiconductor Applications
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1999--Veeco Metrology Group, the world leader in 3D surface metrology, announced receipt of $1.5 million in orders for its recently introduced chemical-mechanical polishing (CMP) metrology tool, the Dimension(TM) Vx Atomic Force Profiler(TM) (AFP). The orders are from several major international semiconductor manufacturers. Shipments are scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2000.

The Dimension Vx Atomic Force Profiler is a multigenerational, fully-automated tool which combines the strengths of Veeco's atomic force microscope and stylus profiler technologies. The Vx AFP is specifically designed for non-destructive measurement of dishing, erosion, and recess for line widths down to 0.18 microns and below with both profiling and imaging of CMP on 200mm and 300mm wafers.

Dr. Don Kania, VP/GM of Veeco Metrology Group, said, ''We are pleased that this new system is rapidly achieving acceptance among leading semiconductor manufacturers as the tool of choice for CMP metrology. With its high lateral and vertical resolution and non-destructive measurement capabilities, the Vx AFP is ideal for our customers' present and future CMP requirements.''
