Q On Cnbc>

CNBC 10/7/99 - 2:53:37 PM .....is time
for our "midday call" on "street signs."
Today's midday call comes from bank of
america securities. The firm is previewing
earnings from the wireless companies.
Analyst mark mckickny looks for motorola
to report earning in line or slightly better
than the 53 cents a share estimate on
street. The stock is rated strong buy at
bankamerica. Meanwhile, qualcomm is also
seen meeting expectations, according to the
analyst. He says he also sees the sale of
the company's handset division happening
by the end of this year. That stock over at
bankamerica is rated buy. And rf midevices

reiterated a strong buy on the stock about 30 minutes ago and lifted its
price target to $50 a share. Now, merrill lynch also made some positive
comments about this stock earlier. Bank of america says it's highly
confident in near-term estimates, and they believe there is a chance that
ubid may beat analysts expectations. Banc of america says ubid is a great
way to play the fourth-quarter strong fundamentals. Take a look here and
we see strength across the board and the stock up 6 1/4 or 19% on ubid.
Well, we've got about an .....

Chortle, chortle, gaffaw, gaffaw.....

So who pushing CDMA 2000? Ericsson? Lucent? Motorola? Nokia? Siemens? Alcatel? Nortel? Japan? Korea? Did I miss someone of the infrastructure folks? Who of these has the flag at the summit of corporate HQ, CDMA 2000 or Die!

It's going to come down to pretty much legacy 2G and political lines as too what of the harmonized standards is deployed. I sure hope that QCOM isn't sitting and doing an Ericsson.
