Oh, humble one, you speak the Truth. The reason that I am not up 70%+ is because I tried to "time the market". Plain truth, backed up by empirical data and egg-on-face.

The only "market timing" that I have found successful is when the whole tech sector (or whole market) is tanking, CNBC is interviewing pundits about survival during the apocolypse, and our investments are down 50% from their highs. This is the time to ignore everything, bite the bullet, and buy. I did that last early September and have had the best returns in the 12 months than I have ever had. As long as there is nothing fundamentally changed about the companies that you like, ignoring the general environment and buying during these crashes is probably the best "market timing"...(though it is incredibly hard to do!)
