Ah missed that "post-FDR" part. But it brings up an interesting point, knowledge of VPs is time-dependent. I'll bet most 20-yr-olds don't know Carter or Fords VPs, and you would have to know who those people were to answer the question. Their cutoff is probably Reagan/Bush.

Yes, but what's really interesting is that most succeeded to the higher office by the death or resignation of the elected President. Nixon failed to succeed Eisenhower.

George Bush was the only sitting Veep to succeed to the Presidency by election since Van Buren. Most sitting Veeps haven't made it. Portent?
