Betty, it is very like moving and finding one's feet in a new community. People online are not necessarily what they appear--we have talked about this phenomenon offline before. This thread, like DAR, is very much a community. I was going to say like a small town, but the "feel" is different. I have known small towns--villages really in New England; this is different, less of the peeking and prying, yet there is the feel of "Hi, good morning" which is usually expressed in PMs after a posting. One of the things I have found remarkable is the number of real friends I have found on this thread, friends who have stood by me in PMs and on the telephone. This is a wonderful thread if it does not go astray....
