When CDMA is named the world -standard for third generation systems there will be a massive uplift in demand as every supply chain comes rushing in to meet that demand and to fill the void of this huge market.

There is NOT going to be a single standard, that fact has been established by the ITU. Instead you have harmonized 5 or 6 standards, that will work with one another. Now riddle me this, is Qualcomm going to produce W-CDMA chips? UWC-136 chips? B-CDMA chips? Why is Lucent setting up test beds for W-CDMA, CDMA 2000 and UWC-136 if there is this one standard? More importantly, QCOM is required to make available it's IPR without discrimination and at fair value, which they agreed to do. Read that as TI and other chip makers competing with QCOM on the chip front.
