Actually, no. I believe that we were created by God. Along with millions of other intelligent races throughout the universe.

It is man's arrogance that makes us believe that we are the center of the universe. The bible was written by men, not God, and just like a newspaper, they put their own spin on the truth.

I guess one of my biggest problems with organized religion (as well as blind acceptance of science) IS faith. If we are allowed to chose our own destiny, it precludes faith. In order to make the correct decisions throughout life, you have to think about what you are doing, and decide if it is right. Faith is just as likely to lead you to evil acts (the crusades and inquisition) as it is to lead you to good acts.

This is where evolutions comes into this. Blindly thinking that Gensis is correct verbetim is counter to self destination. Instead of beleiving a parable told by jewish men now dead for over 4,000 years, shouldn't we examine the evidence that is left?

Evolution has its faults and problems. But it does do a better job of explaining creation than Gensis. We as humans can make up any excuse we want to support an all powerful God, dropping false fossils in the ground, changing the laws of physics, etc. But that doesn't really make the facts jive with the theory.

Now, I do believe Kansas should be allowed to teach creation in their schools. It's their state, and federal voters in California shouldn't have any say in what they do locally. But, I wouldn't count on having an easy first year at college if this is all you learn.

"I suppose if you believe it is by chance then you feel very worthless." - This is a statement that I must take exception to. Many people seem to think that evolution says that we are not one step below angels, we are one step above chimps. It is a fallacy that evolution posits a denial of self worth. Sure I may be simply a very complex cauliflower, but that is no reason for me to feel worthless. It is not even a reason to think that a Supreme Being had no part in my development. What greater faith in God could one have than to give Him credit for a dynamic system of natural selection leading to beings made in His "image?" Why should an omnipotent being simply say "poof" to create the world when He could use the natural processes He created?
