I've been saying that we've been living under a soft Marxism for years. Usually when the subject is raised you're regarded as extreme for daring to point it out.

A rival of Lenin, the Italian Marxist Antonio Gramsci, advocated "the long march through institutions" rather than the bloody revolutions advocated by Lenin. Gramsci argued that communists could establish cultural hegemony by dominating cultural institutions such as academia and media. Revolutionaries must make this long march through the institutions of culture before trying to wield political or economic power. Gramsci's doctrine is being put into practice today.
