John,

Bullish Reasons Cited: The stock is a recommendation of Kevin Landis, founder of Firsthand Funds. He believ! es the
chipmaker will benefit from its superior patented CDMA technology, which allows faster information packet travel, more
capacity and more efficiency for wireless phones.

I don't doubt it. I am long QCOM. However, I think many people in the USA fail to appreciate how entrenched - and effective - GSM is in Europe. Just look at ORNGY for example. They do not appear to have significant capacity problems, even in central London. In some areas, though, the base stations are very closely spaced and at low level to benefit from the shielding effect of buildings to allow maximum frequency re-use. I am sure CDMA is better, but I am equally sure that in Europe it will only thrive as a 3rd generation overlay in conjunction with multi-mode phones.
