Don't know whether this might be a factor but Exabyte says their ASIC came back and tested out fine keeping them on track for mid-November volume. Not sure exactly what it means but they say they have completed EVT-engineering validation testing and have commenced DVT-design validation testing which should take six weeks. Have produced 1,000 units on assembly line so far. Furhter say that electonics, scanner, mechanicals, production line and materials are all worked out. Only firmware and software remain.
EXBT has been very forthright about exactly how many dives have been produced and where they stood all year. Would like the same from QNTM. Don't believe they would anyway but they can't afford to be completely honest if it means customers would buy an alternative instead of waiting for vaporware. -Z
