You are generally correct. Our focus on Europe is because of their high telecommunications costs which makes them an easier early target.

A WAN is a system that connects buildings to a network, generally as a direct replacement for telephone company offerings. Earlier WANs were for private networks. Now, we are focusing on public networks.

I hope this adds some clarity.
