Yahoo- Market Guide has Dell's revenue per employee at 888k...I guess one could easily check this...but it would also occur (to me) that this number could be a bit low, given Dell's fast growth rate...(ie..even if there numbers are based on annual....or are a few months old (likely)..revenue per employee would have (likely) risen since then...

So far, DELL's fiscal 2000 has generated just under $12B in 2 quarters ($5.53B in 1Q and $6.1B in 2Q). Based on the patterns of the past 3 years, 1Q represents about 21% of annual revenue and 2Q between 22% and 23%. Our pattern for the first half of Fiscal 2000 matches nicely, which would put DELL at between $26.4B and $26.7B for fiscal 2000 (sorry Kemble!! not $45B...).

With 24,400 employees, this puts them at just over $1M per employee in revenues, which is an absolutely GREAT number. Only 2 years ago, DELL was at about $600K per employee which was good but not stellar. The thing that drove DELLs number down at that time was the large staff required to manage the direct business, which was mostly telephone sales. The shift to web-based selling has allowed DELL to more than double their sales with only a minor increase in headcount.
