[B] CIBCR says Sep inflation index rise highest since mid-1995
By Bridge News
New York--Oct 8--The September leading inflation index compiled by the
Foundation for International Business and Economic Research (FIBER) rose
to the highest level since mid-1995, according to a press release.
* * *
The index rose to 108.9 in September, compared with 106.9 in August.
(Story .4863)
Among the components which pushed up the inflation index in September
were the jump in the National Association of Purchasing Management's
prices and vendor delivery diffusion indexes, the release said.
Both indexes rose to their highest level in more than 4 years.
Also, the smoothed annualized growth rate in the Journal of Commerce
index of industrial materials prices continued to surge in September from
declining negatives in the first half of the year.
The only component that remained unchanged was the ratio of civilian
employment to working population.
The smoothed growth rate of the index was 6.7% in September, compared
with "near zero" late last year, said the release.
