Geez- and you say I don't catch on. SOME jobs (like slogging through jungles, or risking being blown off carrier decks) are nastier, tougher and just WAY more dangerous than other jobs. that kind of service is NOT the same- and the military tries to acknowledge this by giving people more money for serving in combat.

So the point is-
Combat is more dangerous than sitting at a desk in the States.

Combat is full of more privations than sitting at a desk in the states.

Combat tests your endurance, your courage, and has more chance of breaking you as a human being than sitting at a desk in the States.

I am not RIDICULING sitting at a desk in the States. I am only saying IMO- combat is something above and beyond what other people WHO MAKE a CONTRIBUTION ALSO experience.

I am saying combat experience cannot be compared with other types of postings. I thought I was fairly clear on that.
