DALE:

What it COULD mean is that there were investors in 44 brokerage houses who bought in good faith (shares of MDHM) only to find that they may have bought what wasn't there. The SHORT HOUSES were selling over and above the shares available or outstanding, and those investors never got delivery of the actual shares. This would mean that the GOLD dividend shares could not be delivered since investors who thought they owned MDHM prior to the dividend date didn't really own the shares. There may have been an accounting entry on their monthly statements, but the shares of MDHM were absent. As Mike Gold said, the results of the forensic audit will bear out the suspected LARGE short position very soon. It's almost inconceivable to think that there is not a problem of considerable size since a relatively simple stock dividend has taken about five months to distribute, and it isn't done yet.
