OT.....TI has never shown much imagination in their approach to business.

I'm not really sure how to comment on this...but if this analysis was made prior to them spinning off DRAM/defense/computers to concentrate on DSP, I would suggest looking again. They took a giant risk which is paying off since DSP seems to be growing between 25-40% a year. They own about 50% of the market....

As to TXN and 3G....a while back I think that engineer and Clark commented that DSP doesnt yet have the horsepower to do CDMA. I think that TXN has taken a partial ASIC approach to their 3G designs. However I assume that DSP's will eventually be able to handle 3G in software. I think that would elimanate much of the worries about multi-mode phones.
