I know. I was just teasing. This market has been nutso! Only a handful of hardcore bears are left. You and I are among them. There is a 'Naked Truth - Big Kahuna A Myth' Thread - it is a hang out for realists like you. Please come and visit us there. I have seen some of your posts - you have the thick enough skin to survive there! -g-

Auric,

What does your experience tell you about shorting stocks that ran up on preannounced good earnings? Case in point - ZOMAX (symbol ZOMX).

Begin with 4:03pm news release of Q3 beating expectations; the three days prior the price rose (all before release) from 25 to 31. Next day, with several news sources picking up same story, price rose by gap up to 36, closing that day at 34 3/4ish on about 1 mil vol. Next day gap up to 35, closing 34.5ish on about 400k vol.

It is safe to attribute the run from 25 to 36 to the good earnings. The question becomes what amount will it give back?

(Conference call and formal release is Oct 18, but cat is mostly out of bag now.)

Thanks

Ocean Joe
