In response to a post where you expressed surprise that the market had not responded more positively to recent collaborations with large Japanese consumer products companies, I posted:

Recent announcements have contained good news, but we should not assume that the news had not been anticipated via leaks or hints. Remember the old adage: buy the rumor, sell the fact.

You replied:

I think it actually ends..."sell the news"

Even so, I refuse to walk over the edge of a cliff just because the market says it should be so.

Recall that those in the know were selling SNDK last year for a measely few bucks a share.

I've heard both "sell the fact" and "sell the news". I prefer "sell the fact" because it is snappier and more precise.

As for the market, think carefully about what you really want as a long-term investor. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you read Warren Buffet's musings on "Mr. Market". [I looked for an on-line link, but couldn't find one. Can anyone help?]

And indeed I do remember, gratefully, buying SNDK last year for a few measly bucks a share. I just wish I had backed up a bigger U-haul and kept more of its contents longer.
