Pollan Strengthens NewsEdge Management Team with New Appointments (NEWZ)

Leadership Focused on Exploiting Business-to-Business Internet Opportunities

BURLINGTON, Mass., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- NewsEdge Corporation, the independent leader in global news and current awareness solutions, today announced several new appointments to the Company's management team. Cliff Pollan has been building his management team since being named President and COO of NewsEdge Corporation in April. Pollan appointed John Sax to the post of Vice President, Development, Thomas Karanian to the new position of Vice President, Client Services and Operations and Toral Daftary to the new position of Director, Editorial Services. Sax and Daftary report directly to Pollan while Karanian reports to Marni Hoyle, NewsEdge's Vice President of Enterprise Services.

The Company also announced the resignation of John Moss, NewsEdge Corporation's Vice President of Development since 1997. John Sax replaces Moss in this role.

Sax assumes responsibility for product engineering, documentation and quality assurance at NewsEdge Corporation, leading NewsEdge's 75-person development team in the creation of services to target business-to-business Internet opportunities. Sax was most recently NewsEdge's Director of New Product Development. He has spent 16 years running large development organizations, including development groups at BBN, pioneering network switching and application technologies that became the basis for the Internet. He also managed product development organizations at Prime Computer and Xylogics. Before joining NewsEdge in 1998, John was a founder of IronBridge Networks, a startup that builds Terabit routers for the Internet backbone. He holds a BSEE from Carnegie Mellon University.

In his new role, Karanian leads the nearly 100-person NewsEdge customer care and operations organization, which serves more than 1300 client organizations, including 81 of Business Week's 100 largest global companies. He will be responsible for NewsEdge's quality-centered customer care and operations organization. Karanian has led NewsEdge's Client Services department as director since 1996. Prior to that, he directed NewsEdge's Quality Engineering efforts. Before joining NewsEdge, he worked at Lotus Development Corporation in quality engineering. Karanian holds a BA in physics from Curry College.

Toral Daftary leads NewsEdge's 40-person Editorial and Review department, defining and executing editorial strategy, including development of NewsEdge's 1500 market-leading NewsEdge Review(TM) topics. Daftary has nearly 10 years of experience working with media and new media companies, most recently as a consultant to HoustonStreet.com, a business-to-business trading floor for energy traders. Prior to that, she was the Director of Internet Development for Almus & Lee Communications, helping client companies leverage the Web in support of their corporate strategies. Other organizations for which she has worked or consulted include Media Resource Associates, Inc., Gale Research, Boston Gas, PBS, NYNEX, WETA-TV (Washington, D.C.) and the University of Maryland. She holds an MBA in International Business from George Washington University and a BA in International Relations and English from Tulane University.
