CBOS = Cisco Background Operating System ??

The difficulties experienced by the users of the DSL vis a vis NetMeeting and ICQ make my little difficulties with Hughes DirecPC seem trivial in comparison. I had not realized that the DSL implementation could be so convoluted. I chose to use the DirecPC rather than an ISDN solution, for my rural location, largely to avoid the complexities of(and lack of tech support for) that system. I can see DSL is no slam dunk.

If I understand you correctly, Cisco is supplying CPE as well as CO gear?

The Copper Mountain web site claims USW is a customer for their DSLAM's I think.
