Cable has cost advantage over DSL. Only G.lite is comparable in cost, but not in performance.

There are two variations of ADSL, full-rate ADSL, which will ultimately have more market potential because of its applicability for emerging video applications that will soon be available, and there is G.lite, which is a lower cost, lower performance ADSL solution.

G.lite is great for faster surfing, but once you get to the truly killer apps it is left wanting. DSL is making some inroads now with people who want "broadband", but T/ATHM always has the option of pricing them out of the market when they want to do so.

The one advantage that ATHM has over an ISP that uses DSL is that ATHM can use DSL or cable. @Work uses both cable and DSL for connection.
