Global Positioning & Navigation News)-- Symmetricom Inc. and Qualcomm Inc., leaders in network synchronization and timing and in wireless telecommunications, have demonstrated the ability to synchronize and maintain time and frequency between Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) base stations using handset message traffic and span line inputs independent of GPS inputs, Symmetricom says. The demo was performed using Ericsson's cdmaOne network, part of Ericsson's field test lab. The technology would allow use of CDMA wireless system architectures when GPS signals are not available, Symmetricon says.
