Son of a bitch if you ain't 100% right there. He may have been nuttier than a shit house rat but he did inspire people. And inspired them to do right.

Made a sort of peace with the Soviet threat, gave people hope economically that they could do better, worked well with world leaders and was respected for keeping his word. Respect, that's important in a world leader, not debating the meaning of is. Happy and hopeful and respected are the key words here. I don't care if Bozo the clown is president, as long as we are happy and hopeful and well most of all respected.

So I believe that Reagan played his part well. It may have been a part, he may have been senile, but the world turned out better for having him.
