So there are large chunks of people everywhere who hold all sorts of views. As long as they dont practice everything, I really dont care two hoots. Judge them by their deeds, not by their words. And BJP+allies haven't had much of a chance to show what they will do. And like you, I am not going to *assume* what they will do, and worry sick about it now itself. Infact, you are judging the Nehru dynasty by its words ("we are for the welfare of minorities", "garibi hatao", "we are secular", blah-blah-blah) while its deeds have been criminal.

On a lighter side, it reminds me of a joke on Rajiv Gandhi's election (?) speech someplace: "Hamein desh ko majboot banana hai, shaktishali banana hai. Gareebon ko ameer banana hai (:-) my addition, maybe)". A confused foreigner thaought India was a banana republic...
(OK, doesn't sound as funny the way I put it, but RKLaxman was really funny).

I am sure you think that based on his words, Congress(I) should be admired.
