Howdy Joan, I have got to teach those damn Yellow Dogs what a Saturday is. They are up before the sun and they like to make sure I'm up with them. At present we have a sow bear with three cubs and two mountain lions in the area so the dogs get to be in at night. I'm going to run the electric can opener for no reason to get even with them. Today is my list day. Everything I need goes on the list yet you have to pack light to take it easy on the horses. So the list is all important. When you are miles deep into the wilderness you can't run out to a store for something you forgot. This trip into the wilderness is "my trip" and something I really enjoy each year. For the average guy to do this would not be smart but if you have done such things all your life it is no big deal, you just have to be careful. The most important thing is that someone knows where you are in case you don't come back on time or a major snow storm traps you. So today the list gets checked and double checked. Monday-Wednesday, I play the market and pack up the Blazer and at O'Dark Thirty hours on Thursday, I leave for my High Country land. After some coffee with the Mountain Man, we will ride a pack train of horses deep into the wilderness. Then we will say our goodbyes and I'll remain to set up my camp and enjoy what most people never have. TQM, if you think I'm talking Total Quality Management you need a vacation. I'm talking Total Quality Moments, life broke down to its basics, no computer, TV, phone, and most of all no mindless idiot on CNBC sniveling about the hike in interest rates, that never comes. I could take a vacation anywhere on Earth I like but as Jerimiah said, "I've been to a town". I've been to Maui and the other islands so many times I've lost count, from Seattle to Spain and every place in between, so many Ritz Hotels and Yuppy Hotels, I forget. The wilderness is where I like to be, not man against nature but man with nature. I'm sure you know what I mean. I'm not sure I've ever had a 100% clear thought outside of the wilderness. Remember last year's trip? I made up my mind on that trip if AOL, censored, harassed or applied a double standard to us again that we would move from AOL. They did and we did. 909S BLUE
