Thanks GH, Agreed about being safe for the crew!

Understood about how the gas can build up in the mud system, it just seemed strange to plan on flaring "excess" gas at some set point in the future. I figured they would have to flare any unwanted build-up immediately.

It's hard to apply Newton, Bernoulli, Boyle, Charles, etc. to a whole system I know nothing about!

so if I understand correctly the absence of a flare, in spite of high gas readings, means that yesterday they were not drilling through gasbearing sands??
