I believe that all the pheasants were originally from Asia with the ringneck being introduced into Oregon by Judge Denny in the 1870s.
I met a man years ago who raised the different pheasants, several varieties. The Reeves stood out as it was all golden. Pheasants are so closely related to chickens that they will cross breed with them.
