Vodafone AirTouch Plc (VOD ) - Calling For Air Cover VOD shares hit a new intraday high today on news that the company had increased its holdings in several Japanese mobile telephone companies. An interesting transaction was put together using the November 50 call today. A block of 3,000 contracts crossed the tape at the bid shortly after a 324,100-share block traded at 50-1/2. If this was an option sale, it could be a covered call position, in which the trader pocketed $694,000 in premium. This would lower the breakeven point on this trade to 48-3/16 on the shares.
