Deutsche Telekom to Cooperate With SBC ?

Frankfurt, Oct. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Deutsche Telekom AG, Europe's biggest phone company, is in talks about
cooperating with the U.S. phone company formed by SBC Communications Inc.'s $81 billion acquisition of
Ameritech Corp., Sunday newspaper Welt am Sonntag reported in advance of tomorrow's edition, without
citing sources. The companies have been talking for a year, the newspaper said, adding this could be the
last chance for Deutsche Telekom Chief Executive Ron Sommer to get a foothold in the U.S.
telecommunications market. Deutsche Telekom last week said it aims to sell its 10 percent stake in Sprint
Corp. to fund further expansion after MCI WorldCom Inc. bid $129 billion for Sprint.

Deutsche Telekom declined to comment on the Welt am Sonntag report.
