eBay Selects AboveNet and Exodus for Technology Outsourcing

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- eBay(R) (Nasdaq: EBAY) (www.ebay.com), the world's leading person-to-person online trading community, today announced that it is outsourcing its backend Internet technology to AboveNet Communications and Exodus Communications (Nasdaq: EXDS), as the company moves to create a utility-like service for its 5.6 million customers worldwide.

By expanding its current relationship with Exodus and bringing AboveNet on board, eBay is outsourcing Web servers, database servers and Internet routers as well as relying on the companies to provide increased network bandwidth for its millions of active buyers and sellers.
