AT&T may hold cable assets
Company believes FCC rule changes could allow it to keep all of MediaOne

The nation's top long-distance carrier said the FCC's decision Friday to alter the way it defines limited partnerships should permit AT&T to exclude MediaOne's 25 percent stake in a partnership with Time Warner from it's overall cable subscriber tally.
If that proves true, it effectively would push AT&T under expanded FCC rules limiting one company from having programming control for more than 30 percent of the nation's cable households.
"We're comfortable that if the Time Warner partnership is not attributable to AT&T that we can fit under the 30 percent cap," AT&T Chairman Michael Armstrong said in a conference call with reporters.

Looks to me like all those "leaks" about ongoing talks with other ISP's got ol' Mike what he wanted. Pretty slick.
