Great post, nice thoughtful analysis, thx Hawk.

Out of curiosity, I checked to see what the results would have been if the 6 buys had been evenly distributed, on 4/1, 4/15, 5/3, 5/17, 6/1, 6/15.

Using opening price on each day (your analysis did not say whether you used opening, mean, or closing price each day):

4/1 -- 63 1/4
4/15 -- 83 1/2
5/3 -- 104 3/16
5/17 -- 110 3/8
6/1 -- 98 7/8
6/15 -- 102 1/2

For an average price of 93 3/4.

As you say, real tough to draw any conclusions.....<g>

Thanks for the analysis and ideas, StockHawk. One additional step might be to determine the year ending difference in overall return using my undisciplined approach versus your proposed system. You can presume a year end price of $300, which Rose Campion assures me will be met <g>.
