I agree. Mere speculation. DT has been talking to a number of telecoms during the past year, but nothing came out of it, at least so far.

Will Size Matter? -- Channel strategies intact despite $129B mega-merger of MCI WorldCom, Sprint
stockpoint.com\281u5907.htm

Resellers have mixed feelings about the effectiveness of MCI WorldCom and Sprint, as well as its impact on the channel, if they become one company.

Greg Uehling, president of reseller Devise Associates Inc., New York, said his interest is in obtaining worldwide optical fiber. The best source for that is the still relatively small Global Crossing Ltd., Bermuda, particularly since its own recent acquisition of Frontier Corp., Rochester, N.Y., he said.

"The bigger these carriers get the more I'm afraid of them," Uehling said of MCI WorldCom's acquisition plans. "These companies are already difficult to deal with. Smaller companies are easier to work with because their sales forces are smaller," he said.
