Frank, here's an article from tele.com that's quite interesting (both DT and GBLX are in it):
Looking Back, Looking Ahead -- The Last Four Years Could Tell Us Plenty About What The Next Four Years Hold.

2. Deregulation in Europe: Who in 1995 would have dared to predict that
mighty Deutsche Telekom would see its market share in long-haul telephony
slide by 30 percent? It was easy to be cynical at the time, but the European
Union's competitive mandate of January 1998 galvanized the world's biggest
market and marked the turning point in the global transition from monopoly to
competition.

8. The rise and rise of Global Crossing: Where Bernie Ebbers led, Gary
Winnick followed, and saw the capital value of his company soar to $25
billion on the back of a song, a prayer, a spreadsheet and a single
transatlantic cable. Global Crossing marked the zenith (for now) of the new
debt- and venture capital-financed telecom model for growth and world
domination, but the jury's still out on whether it's a sustainable model. In four
years, we'll probably have a better view.
