Re: they can't spend $50Mn on a million MBs...

Why should they? Asus is the best board maker in the business (I can say that, at least temporarily, after the camino and xeon mess) and Asus was onboard as the main Athlon motherboard provider:
theregister.co.uk

My guess from the events, now that we know that AMD has been streaming out plenty of Athlons at high speed for months - something that Asus was certainly informed of.

The news about Athlons incredible and unexpected performance and impending availability was relayed to Intel, and after justice backed off its suit, there was a quick "cut off your oxygen" call from Intel to Asus and the other motherboard manufacturers, and the rest is history.

The only thing that saved AMD was that MSI was willing to risk Intel's threats for the chance to make more profit every 4 months than they did in all of last year - and so far it's working out wonderfully for them. Once MSI started shipping the other outfits had some cover and started coming out one by one.

Yousef,
RE:"Yes Jimmy, these guys are "geniuses" ... Boy with all that potential, you
should buy a few more "thousand shares". Haven't you been HYPE'ing AMD
to all the AMDroids on this thread ?? Sounds like the "chicken bones"
need a "tune up". <ggg>"...

You know, Yousef, if you'd stop with the stupid arrogant posts that even "<ggg>" can't salvage we'd probably cut you some slack about your blatantly incorrect knowledge of AMD process technology.

Nahhh...

Jim
