Downsouth,

I read some of his posts (Voltaire's) as well. In specific and of late, he seems to be talking about 1 stock in particular, RNWK, an internet stock.

The chip company's are in an up cycle, as been amply demonstrated by their recent performance.

As for HI/fn....well, aside from the hype of the situation and the lawsuits that have already started, HI/fn did it's investors and analysts that follow it a dis-service by not managing their information flow better.

How the heck can a respected house like BBRS issue a company report, have it be misunderstood, then issue a glowing clarification...and be totally laughed at because they were made fools of?

You don't do that with impunity. Much of the toll was caused by very pissed off traders shorting the hell out of the stock, and the public getting trampled in between. That's how lessons get taught in this business.

Now.....there's probably an upside play, of course...but wade carefully. Tuesday might be down, too.

The stampede in other stocks that you mention was cause by the potential linkage, ergo.....I think they're too much inventory from one company, so MAYBE that's true of other suppliers, a la VTSS and PMCS.

So down go these two guys, and CNXT, RFMD and a host of others. The linkage is completely wrong (what does CNXT have to do with HIFN problems or even PMCS?), and the report was someone's speculation on POSSIBILITIES. Wow.....sell your stock because of this? Geesh.

So...... for those with clear vision on what's happening in this business, it's a buying opportunity with a LT horizon in mind.

Does PMCS have to show good earnings and good guidance? Of course, but that's true everywhere. I hope that those CEO's watching this learn a valuable lesson: Knowing how to manage expectations and pertubations in the revenue stream is a vital part of being an chief executive. Work with WS and your shareholders. Learn the art of spin, and don't hide the dirty laundry.

Look at INTC. Last quarter's numbers and guidance information was lukewarm at best. Look what the stock did. Why? Because INTC's learned to manage WS.

I firmly believe that if HI/fn managed this differently they would still be down, but a fraction of their current loss.

Let's hope PMCS delivers a solid message.

Steve
