My next door neighbor in Illinois was 78 years old. A poultry expert who had been crippled by disease on mission in India. He did every thing on his house, painted, shingled, ---everything on his three story house, borrowing my 32" extension ladder. When I moved in 1977, I gave it to him. When I repair my roof here, I can see nearly all of Honolulu and the Pacific spread beneath me. The sun sets beyond the Western mountains spreading oceans of brilliant paint across the sky.
When during a storm I hear the wind rip big chunks of shingle off my roof, I look forward to climbing up there and fixing it. The supplies are ready. I only need a few clouds scattered across the sky.
