wily, Dan: Thanks for generously sharing your knowledge. wily, the import message utility does not seem to be able to find other machines on the network. I can get as far as the domain name, but don't get machine names. I'll try some more stuff tho. Dan, now I get it. Server is the email server at the ISP. I was stuck on server meaning my office machine, which is the 'server' under Sygate. This sounds like a great idea. Pardon me if my terminology is incorrect. I don't have the basic worldview of networks wholly conceptualized still. Just beginning to understand the word 'client'. I'll try your suggestions and let you know. Thanks much. peter
