New Zealand now has just over 1 million cell phone owners.

With a total population of 3.6 million that means more than 1 in 4 kiwis owns a cellphone, not bad for us haka dancing headhunters. CDMA still being held up by Treaty negotiations since the Maoris have discovered that the air above their heads is sacred or Tapu. All spectrum auctions now on hold until the politicians can work out how much air belongs to the Maoris and therefore how much spectrum they can automatically own. None of our visionary leaders are very mathematical so it could be sometime before they can work out an equation that is suitable to the Maori.

Meanwhile the Maoris continue to procreate at a faster rate than us Europeans (pakehas) so the equation is changing daily, adding more confusion to the air above all our heads.

Meanwhile Telecom NZ will just have to go on selling inferior technology.

We have the general election here in November and some candidates are PROMISING to abandon the treaty. The party I belong to The Libertarianz will not only abolish the treaty but also form a new constitution. This will clear the air above our heads even if the Queen has flatulence.
