One Christmas the stand that holds the tree leaked. We put plastic on the floor. Then we place a carpet on top b4 we place the Xmas paper that surrounds the tree.

We never noticed the leak until we took the tree down. There was this huge water mark. I was terrified.

Housemate wiped it up. The water never penetrated the finish.
