Yes but once a country joins one of these conventions, it must accept the consequences or get kicked out. We can't kick Kansas. Mississippi or Alabama out despite their continued misconduct. That's why we shouldn't care and go ahead and join ECHR (if they would let us in). We don't like it, we can quit and nuke all of them if we wish. Most of the others can't get a deal like that. It's very unfair in our favor. That's why I like it very much.

It seems to me that we have a hard enough time governing ourselves without dealing with outsiders trying to govern us. IMO, treaties exist only to govern external relationships, and not domestic government.

Just realized that I've posted something like six in a row, I couldn't sleep, so I got on SI, this was probably a bad idea.
