Only if I didn't mind paying more for it after the earnings.

<<if someone wanted to buy Q would you wait until after the 21st to see how the street reacts to their earnings?>>

From the guy who's been trying to figure out timing, a possibly surprising answer: NOOOOO!!!! Two reasons why not:

First, given its general excellence as a company and an investment, QCOM's price will probably go up substantially between now and the earnings report, and by waiting you will miss that run-up. Even if it dips a bit after earnings, it probably won't drop back down to this level.

Second, it probably won't dip after earnings! QCOM has already preannounced general success this quarter ("will meet or beat expectations"), so the only question is just how well they will do. History says bet with them, not against them. Even some of those around here who know the Q best (e.g., UF and Lindy) have been unable to time it correctly.

It has recent;ly seemed to me that most tech stocks decline a little after earnings are announced, regardless of the results. In fact, I think that happened with Q last quarter.

In any case timing is dangerous-- as those of us learned who bailed on the last downturn-- and GG theory syas buy whenever you have the capital.

IMHO.
